FA announces inaugural Women’s Football Weekend in November

The FA is currently urging fans to attend a women’s match during their Women’s Soccer Weekend on November 16-17 at any level of this pyramid.
Depending on the Day concept that was effective, the weekend has been timed to coincide with a pause in English Football League calendars and the Premier League and it is hoped that this will develop into an yearly event.

In a statement, the FA’s women’s professional game director Kelly Simmons explained:”We’re excited to announce that the first ever Women’s Soccer Weekend, for what is guaranteed to be yet another excellent moment in a year that has witnessed enormous momentum behind the growth in popularity of women’s soccer.
”Following on from a Dramatic FIFA Women’s World Cup and launching Barclays FA Women’s Super League weekend, there’s never been a better time to see your regional team, and we encourage all supporters to become involved in any respect levels of the volcano on November 16-17.”
Among the fixtures on offer from the Championship of the Women that weekend have been Crystal Palace versus London City Lionesses and Durham from London Bees, and there’ll also be a programme of cup and league games the women’s pyramid.
